Taking Time Out from a Busy Life
I thought college life was busy. As I get older, I’m realizing just how busy adult life can be.
It’s easy to get caught up in our to-do list (AKA our must-do list) and not take the time to enjoy something on our want-to-do list. But how can we take care of our own happiness if we don’t enjoy what we want every now and then?
This weekend my boyfriend, my puppy, and I went on a little getaway to Ventura, California. I’ve been wanting to go for a while now but never seemed to be able to find the time to do it. It ended up being within an hour’s drive from our home. I was excited to learn that I live so close to a town that felt so different from the crazy, stressful city I’m used to.
This time we decided not to make it an active day. We relaxed on a dog-friendly beach, then headed over to the pier for lunch and a short stroll. I love how dog-friendly Ventura is. There were so many dogs out and about that I didn’t feel out of place by bringing Cali.
We Have to Go Back!
I’m already looking forward to going back (especially when the weather over there is slightly warmer) to enjoy the ocean a bit more, visit downtown, and maybe go on a hike.
Have any of you been to Ventura? Any suggestions on fun places to go or great things to see over there? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
